Is It Ok to Brush Without Toothpaste?

In short, YES it is. Studies have shown that brushing without toothpaste is just as effective in removing plaque and in some cases… it’s more effective.

Additionally, most paste contains an abrasive that can cause micro abrasion.

So, is toothpaste a scam?! Not at all. Pastes are a good delivery system usually designed with a purpose in mind…
For instance it may contain sensitivity medication to treat or prevent sensitive teeth, such as Potassium Nitrate.
Sodium phosphate brings the Ph of the oral cavity down to fight decay.
Sodium fluoride fights decay in two ways, reducing the ability of bacteria to make the acids lead to tooth decay and remineralizing the teeth that may have been attacked already. Other ingredients can include flavoring such as mint.
Remember this: The idea of tooth brushing is simply about removing plaque from the teeth, physically. In order to do that most effectively one should know how to brush properly and this can be done effectively without toothpaste.
